From mah at mhorton.net Sun Jun 11 13:06:26 2006 From: mah at mhorton.net (Mary Ann Horton) Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2006 16:06:26 -0400 Subject: [Humor] Engineering Jargon Message-ID: <448C77C2.8090906@mhorton.net> My son is an honors student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue. He never fails to amaze me with what he learns there. My neighbors kept wondering why nobody answers the door when I'm home. They'd say they rang the door bell, but I never heard it. Adam helped me track down the problem. He'd push the door bell button, and I'd hear this little "(ding)" noise, but it was so quiet I had to be in the same room with the radio off, or I wouldn't hear it. Every time one of us pushed the button, there's be this little "(ding)" noise, just a very quiet little "(ding.)" Finally, he put his superior diagnostic skills to use, and he explained the problem to me in concise technical engineering terms. He told me "Your dong is broken."
